LongJTAPI - First Start

You can run the LongDialer with a double klick on the file LongDialer.jar or with the shortcut in the start menu.

After the start of the LongDialer the graphical user interface is displayed. You can see this in the following picture:

You must configure LongJTAPI before you can use the LongDialer. The configuration is subdivided in some steps. All information on the configuration is stored in the file LongJTAPI.config. This file will be created in the same directory as the JAR archive.

The first step is to define the addresses of the Provider Domain. The following dialog is displayed:

The addresses of the Provider Domain are typed in the edit line. With the "Add" button you can add the address to the address list.
To remove an address from the address list select the address in the address list and press the "Delete" button.
If it is necessary to change an address, select the address in the address list and press the "Edit" button. The address is moved to the edit line and there you can change it. Press the "Add" button to add the changed address to the address list.
If there are only slight differeces between a new address and an existing address, you can copy the selected existing address to the edit line with the "Copy" button. Press the "Add" button to add the edited new address to the address list.

After you have completed the address list of the Provider Domain, you can close the dialog using the "OK" button. All changes will be activated when you restart the LongDialer. In case of the first start of LongDialer the restart is not necessary. The Options Page of the application is displayed immediately. On the page you must select your own address in the address list of the Provider Domain. The following picture shows the Options Page:

In addition a message box is opend, which describes the necessary input:

The combo box in the first line contains all addresses of the Provider Domain. The first address of the list is preselected. After the selection of the address you want, press the "Apply" button to activate it.

The addition of a listener for incoming calls is necessary for activation. A TAPI-Line must be selected for this listener. To do this, the LongJTAPI configuration dialog is opened with the page for the incoming line:

If you have selected the line you want, close the dialog with the "OK" button.
If an error occurs during the addition of the listener for incoming call, the following message box is opend and the listener is not active:

Now you can set up your first outgoing call. Change to the first page of the LongDialer application and enter the address of the destination.

When you press the "Dial" button the call setup is started. You can use different TAPI lines for incoming and outgoing calls. Now the JTAPI configuration dialog is displayed with the page with the selection possibilities for the outgoing line:

If you have selected the line you want, close the dialog with the "OK" button.

The LongDialer starts with the call setup to the destination. If it is not possible to set up a call with the selected outgoing line, the following error message box is displayed:

If the call setup is finished and the destination has answered, the label of the button change from "Dial" to "Hang Up" and you can talk.

The call can be canceled by using the "Hang Up" button or the destination can cancel the call.

By pressing the close button of the application window the LongDialer shuts down JTAPI. If the configuration datas of LongJTAPI have been changed you can select "OK" in the following dialog to save the changes in the configuration file or "No" if not.

The LongDialer will save changed configuration data in his configuration file as well if you press the "OK" button in the following message box.

With this step the minimal configuration of the LongDialer and the LongJTAPI bridge is finished. When you start LongDialer again you can start the call setup immediately.
